The Pack set out early for a private tour of the lighthouse! A fun adventure to start off the year for our returning Scouts and to welcome our new Scouts! We had a beautiful morning with a great view from the top while reviewing last year’s outdoor lessons.

A fun night of Air Archery, Plastic Axe Throwing, Paper Rockets, Music and Gaga Ball! Great way to kick off the year!

Started off our Pack’s event by rewarding our Scouts their Adventure Loops and Pins! A lot of great costumes, of which some earned awards for most original, spookiest, craftiest and best! The Scouts crafted bats, skeletons and a catapult. We finished off the night with musical mummy wrapping!

The Scouts gathered to create holiday greeting cards for soldiers serving our country.

At the Wall of Wars, we held a ceremony honoring Veterans in attendance, in our hearts and throughout time. Scouts braved the cold weather, we even had a snow shower, then played in the leaves and finished off our day at Applebee’s where the Scouts walked around the entire restaurant thanking Veteran’s for their service.

Families of Pack 38 came together for a night of crafts, thankfulness and to share a meal together! Before the meal, the Scouts were able to see one of their Leaders earn his beads during a Wood Badge Beading Ceremony.

A celebration to remember filled with crafts, games and even a visit from Santa! The Scouts made snow, snowmen, and designed their own tree art.

2026 Started off with our annual Pinewood Derby! The Scouts attended a workshop hosted by troop 327 to get their cars cut, and axles sanded down. They spent the next 2 weeks finalizing their designs.

February’s Pack event was an overnight at the Riverhead Aquarium! The Scouts learned all about fish and crustations from the Aquarium Staff and then slept alongside Sharks, Sea Horses, and other beautiful sea creatures.

An amazing celebration to honor our Arrow of Light Scouts as they complete their journey through Cub Scouts and bridge to their next great adventure as Scouts in a Troop!

The Cub Scouts put in a lot or work at the Church’s garden this year. They started off by removing all of the weeds and turning the soil. Next, they filled the wheelbarrow with fresh compost and then spread it into the beds.

The Pack Leaders rebuilt two garden beds with some help from their children and also laid mulch down in the walkways to prevent the overgrowth of weeds.

Our Scouts all want to go fishing! They attended a presentation given by an Angling Educator from the Long Island Fishing Committee followed by a Fishing Stations event where they tied fishing knots, baited hooks, learned fish anatomy and casted rods at backyard bass. Looking forward to our fishing meetups!

September • Pack 38 hiked the path to the Fire Island Lighthouse and climbed to the top to observe the shoreline and ocean view.

September • The year was kicked off with a night to remember! Axe throwing, making then launching bottle rockets and archery!

October • The Scouts ventured out to Montauk Lighthouse for a hike through the forest and back along the beach after stopping for lunch and watching the seals lay on the rocks in the water.

November • Pack 38 participated in a service project to at the local VA hospital in honor of Veterans Day. Donating several picket fence USA flags and also cleaning up some of the grounds.

December • Service project for our Charter Organization. The pack’s families made quick work of bagging up all these leaves!

December • Town of Islip’s Holiday Parade was a success.

February • A tradition for many Cub Scouts that Pack 38 honors every year! This year the competition was fierce with close race times and very creative designs.

March • The cold didn’t stop these Cub Scouts from walking proudly!

March • As the weather began to warm up we ventured through Connetquot State Park to the fish hatchery. A lot of new Scouts were able to show off their gear and knowledge of their environment.

April • In preperation for fishing season the Cub Scouts were presented with the knowledge needed to prepare for a day of fishing. Later that week they were able to practice casting rods, tying knots and baiting hooks.

April • The Scouts performing service hours at our Charter Organization’s Garden, pulling weeds and spreading fresh compost.

April • A month long campaign of collecting donations the Pack was able to come up with a substantial amount of blankets, towels, kitty litter, foods, and other necessities for the Town of Islip Animal Shelter.

May • Riverhead Raceway’s Scout Night was action packed with great racers! Scouts received free grandstand admission for an exciting night of NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series competition.

May • This Memorial Day the pack participated in placing flags at the graves of our country’s fallen heroes.

June • This year the pack camped at Sears Bellows County Park in Hampton Bays for 3 days and 2 nights! Beautiful weather, and a lot of fun. The Scouts were able to put a lot of the lessons from the year to the test!

July • Baiting Hollow Scout Camp hosted Cub Scouts and Parents to experience a camp program of Swimming, Boating, BB Gun, Archery, Rock Wall Climbing and Campfire traditions.

August • A simple meetup at Hecksher Park to play some lawn games, see our friends and check out some wildlife. The Scouts spotted an Osprey’s nest and then the Osprey flew in to add to the already massive nest!

August • This annual trip is always fun and energizing. Kids and Adults had a great morning fishing in beautiful weather.
